ALPR PRIVACY / BUILD & USE
Connect. Configure. Disconnect.
The maintenance interface runs locally on the controller.
Open Maintenance Mode
Briefly press and release the dedicated maintenance button. On the documented prototype it is wired to GPIO10. Do not confuse it with the board’s EN/reset or BOOT buttons.
Join the device’s Wi-Fi
On your phone, tablet or computer, select the password-protected
Privacy-XXXXnetwork. Use the credentials provisioned for your device. The local network may show “no internet”; remain connected to reach the controller.Open the local address
In your browser, open http://192.168.4.1. This address is reachable only while connected to the device’s maintenance network.
Set the friendly name and saved networks
Use the maintenance interface to change the name and manage saved Wi-Fi networks, passwords and priority. Confirm each change in the interface. Internet-capable saved Wi-Fi is used for update checks; joining the maintenance network alone does not provide internet access.
Review the status before leaving
Check GPS quality, database state and relay status. For the v0.4.1 prototype, leave automatic database installation disabled until the bench update and recovery checks pass.
The ten-minute timeout
Maintenance Mode ends after ten minutes of browser inactivity in the documented source. Status polling does not extend the session; actual interaction does. Press the button again to reopen it. Normal GPS/geofence processing continues while maintenance is open.
Optional USB diagnostics
Connect to the controller with a USB data cable and use Serial Monitor at 115200 baud. Select the actual port assigned to your board. The status report includes the firmware, GPS, database and output state. Redact identifiers and Wi-Fi information before sharing logs.
